BANNU (Kashmir English): Security forces and police achieved significant success during a joint operation in Domail Tehsil of Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 6 terrorists belonging to Fitna-ul-Khawarij, including a highly wanted terrorist commander.

Several hideouts of the terrorists were also destroyed during the operation. The operation, which began on Sunday, has entered its fourth day.

According to media reports, search and clearance operations have been intensified by security forces and police in different areas of Domail Tehsil. In view of the overall law and order situation in the area, Section 144 has been imposed, under which no person is allowed to enter or leave the area without permission.

Terrorist hideouts demolished

According to media reports, several hideouts of terrorists, including a highly wanted terrorist commander belonging to Fitna-ul-Khawarij, were targeted during the operation and completely demolished through explosions.

There was a heavy exchange of fire during the operation, but the security forces adopted an effective strategy and forced the terrorists to retreat.

According to District Police Officer Bannu Yasir Afridi, a body was recovered during the operation, which was wearing a burqa. According to him, this shows that the terrorists were disguised as women to hide among the civilians. According to the DPO, the total number of terrorists killed has reached 6.

Escape attempt failed

According to police officials, terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij tried to escape during the operation, but another terrorist was killed in a face-to-face encounter with the security forces.

Officials say that the presence of burqa-clad terrorists is clear evidence that extremist elements are using different tactics to hide among the civilian population.

Evacuation of civilians and Jirga

A jirga was held between the local Ahmadzai tribes, district administration, and security officials to ensure the safety of civilians during the operation.

The jirga discussed in detail the issues related to shifting civilians from the affected areas to safe places and allowing necessary movement.

According to the administration, consideration is also being given to allowing limited movement as per the situation, keeping in mind the public convenience.
