AJK’s SDMA logged 215 disaster-related deaths during 2025

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): During 2025, various natural, climatic, and human-induced accidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) resulted in significant loss of life and property.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Azad Jammu and Kashmir annual statistics, natural and climatic disasters including heavy rains, snowfall, landslides, and storms alone claimed 50 lives.

Furthermore, 33 fatalities were logged in conflict-like situations while road traffic accidents lead to 132 fatalities.

According to the SDMA report, a total of 215 people lost their lives and 3,252 people were injured during 2025.

Furthermore, the report also detailed other incidents as fire. It logged 66 incidents of Forest fire, 170 incidents of domestic fire, 146 incidents in commercial centers totaling 382 fire incidents throughout the year.

Damage to houses in AJK

In fire incidents, 504 houses were completely destroyed, and 4,403 houses were partially affected, according to the State Disaster Management Authority as it appealed to the public to prevent fires.
