MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) AJK has issued an advisory for the fourth spell of monsoon, expected to hit Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and various parts of Pakistan from July 20 to July 25, 2025.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rains during this period, posing risks of flooding in rivers, increased river flow, landslides, and urban flooding.
The Met Office stated that monsoon currents are currently penetrating Sindh and the upper parts of the country, and are likely to intensify in the upper and central parts from July 20. “A fresh westerly wave is likely to approach the upper parts on 21st July.”
A total of 8 monsoon spells are expected this year, and the SDMA has warned that the fourth spell may be severe. The authority has urged the public to prioritize their safety and take necessary precautions to minimize risks.
The SDMA has issued important instructions to all institutions, the public, tourists, and related departments to ensure preparedness and safety.
The authority requested that the department maintain active emergency response plans, deploy teams to high-risk areas, and monitor sensitive buildings.
“Restrict public movement near rivers, canals, and temporarily close dangerous routes,” SDMA said to the law enforcement departments.
The state authority has urged the general public to avoid unnecessary travel, especially to mountainous areas, and stay away from rivers, canals, and mountain slopes.
The advisory also advised the public to plan trips according to the latest weather conditions, avoid camping near mountainous areas or waterfalls, and follow local administration instructions.
