MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a heart-wrenching incident, authorities rescued a widow on Monday from Muzaffarabad’s Domail Bridge, who was attempting to take her own life.

As per the details, the personnel of Rescue 1122 and Water Rescue Unit Domail responded quickly and saved the woman, a resident of Bella Noor Shah.

The woman fed up with the situation tried to jump into the Jhelum River but thanks to the timely intervention of Rescue 1122 and Water Rescue Unit Dumel Baradari, the woman’s life was saved.

Upon inquiry, she said that her husband had abandoned her, leaving her with four children and two girls to care for in a rented house. Despite filing a case in court, the husband refused to provide for the children’s expenses, pushing the woman to the brink of despair.

The thought of providing for her children’s basic needs, even something as simple as new clothes for Eid, had become an unbearable burden, she told rescue officials.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SMDA) Muzaffarbad official provided financial assistance to the affected woman, while the Deputy Commissioner office provided ration to support the family. The woman was safely returned home, her children were spared the unimaginable loss of their mother.
