ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, held a detailed meeting with Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Chairman PML-N and Secretary General of Motamar al-Alam al-Islami and discussed political matters.
A detailed discussion was held on occupied Kashmir, party affairs, and upcoming elections, among other matters.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, both leaders expressed grave concern over the health of detained Hurriyat leaders in occupied Kashmir and feared that India intends to eliminate the imprisoned leaders through slow poisoning.
Raja Zafar-ul-Haq and Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of Syed Shabbir Ahmed Shah and demanded that he be provided with medical treatment.
Cases of Kashmiri leaders
International human rights organizations should take notice of the cases of Kashmiri leaders imprisoned for decades in political cases, especially the threats to their health and lives, they demanded, adding pressure should be put on India to provide them with medical facilities.
Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, while talking about the situation in Azad Kashmir, said that PML-N will form the government in Azad Kashmir based on its performance from 2016 to 2021.
PML-N is currently the largest and most organized party in Azad Kashmir. It was defeated by rigging in the 2021 elections, he said. The League will win a heavy majority in the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir and form the government, he said.
Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan thanked Raja Zafar-ul-Haq on this occasion and said that the people of the state view his unwavering commitment to Kashmir with respect.
Raja Zafar-ul-Haq has always supported the oppressed Kashmiris and presented their case in the best possible way on an effective platform like Rabita al-Alam al-Islami, Khan said.
