Rain, thunderstorms forecast across several parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms at several places across the country tonight and on Sunday, while hot and humid weather is expected to prevail in most parts.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain hot and humid in most parts of the country tonight.

However, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at a few places in upper and central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.

On Sunday, hot and humid weather is likely to continue in most parts of the country, while rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at some places in upper and central Punjab.

Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, with heavy rain likely at a few places during the morning hours.

The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas of Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Jhang, Okara, Kasur and adjoining areas.

It has also cautioned that vulnerable structures, including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards, could be damaged due to heavy rain, strong winds or windstorms and lightning.

In Islamabad and adjoining areas, hot and dry weather is expected, although partly cloudy conditions are likely during the morning hours, with a possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder.

KPK Weather

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy weather is expected in most districts. Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in Dir, Swat, Shangla, Chitral, Kohistan, Battagram, Buner, Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Haripur.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Malakand, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Kohat, Hangu and Kurram, while heavy rain is also expected at a few places during the morning hours.

Most districts of Punjab are likely to experience hot and humid weather. However, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Hafizabad and Kasur.

Strong winds and thunderstorms are also expected in Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Bahawalnagar and adjoining areas. Heavy rain is also likely at some places during the morning hours.

Sindh, Balochistan Weather

In Sindh, hot and humid weather is expected in most districts, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in coastal areas, including Karachi, where drizzle is also possible.

Meanwhile, cloudy weather is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms likely at a few places.

The Meteorological Department has advised residents, particularly those in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall and strong winds, to remain cautious and take precautionary measures to avoid possible damage and disruption.
