BARA (Kashmir English): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers burned the police unfiorms to record videos and upload on social media paltforms, particularly TikTok, against the imposition of governor’s rule in Bara, Khyber district.

A video recorded at Bara Chowk has circulated shows that police uniforms were brought from homes and burned on a road to create the impression that the uniforms had been snatched from police personnel.

According to sources, the protest activities by PTI in Bara and Jamrud areas of Khyber district were not successful and at most places, the number of spectators were more than protesters.

Separately, firing was reported during a protest in the Alam Godar area of Bara.

Security source said that a protester was seriously injured after allegedly being shot by a fellow participant. The incident reportedly triggered panic, prompting some demonstrators to disperse.

Police officials said officers on duty also came under fire by PTI protestors. Police subsequently arrested individuals allegedly involved in the shooting and cordoned off the area to bring the situation under control.

Reacting to the incident, DPO Khyber said that no compromise will be made on maintaining law and order. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who take the law into their own hands, attack the police force and pose a threat to citizens.

The residents of Bara said that the firing incident and limited public participation has affected the PTI’s protest narrative.

Sources said that after the imposition of Governor’s Rule, law enforcement agencies are on alert and the law and order situation in the area is under control.
