KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari is ‘medically fit’ and will be discharged from the hospital in a day or two, his physician Dr Asim Hussain said on Saturday.
Addressing the media in Karachi, Dr Asim said that the president is fine now and added that speculations should come to an end.
“He will definitely be discharged within the next 48 hours. He is medically fit and being examined by specialists,” the physician told reporters.
The president had been placed in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 a few days ago, a statement from the President House said on Wednesday.
“On the evening of Eid day, I received a call that the president was very sick; he was very cold and had a fever, so I travelled to Nawabshah,” the physician continued.
The physician said that the president was receiving medical care from infectious disease specialists at a private hospital.
In today’s presser, he elaborated that some antiviral drugs for the head of state were unavailable in Pakistan, so they were ordered from abroad and administered to the president.
Asim added that coronavirus is still present in the country, and its cases are being reported. He added that anti-viral medicines have been developed for COVID-19 very effective patients.
