ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A delegation of members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly delegation met with President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad to discuss the current situation in the region.

During the meeting, the delegation updated the President of Pakistan on the challenges facing Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including development needs and ongoing issues.

President Zardari stressed the importance of givingspecial attention to the development and welfare of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He observed that the need to uplift the living standards of the people in the area should always be a priority.

Additionally, President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Parliamentary Party to discuss upcoming elections in the region, the overall political climate, and the internal reorganisation of the party, according to reports on Thursday.

During the meeting, the president underlined the importance of strengthening the party’s structure in AJK and urged greater mobilisation of workers on the ground.

Several senior figures from AJK were present, including cabinet ministers Sardar Yaqub and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf, as well as AJK Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar.

Consultations were also held on the party’s future political strategy in the region. On this occasion, PPP office-bearers shared their input and offered suggestions for tackling political challenges moving forward.
