President, PM AJK pay tributes to founding president Sardar Ibrahim

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq have paid glowing tributes to the founding president of AJK, Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, on the occasion of his 22nd death anniversary.

In special messages separately issued on the deceased leader’s death anniversary, President Chaudhry said that Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan would always be remembered for his indomitable role in the Kashmir freedom movement and his lifelong, selfless service to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Describing Sardar Ibrahim Khan as a dynamic and visionary statesman, Barrister Chaudhry said the late leader not only spearheaded the freedom movement but also effectively represented the cause of Kashmiris at the United Nations.

Recalling his association with the revered leader, Barrister Chaudhry said, “I had the honour and privilege of working under the guidance of Ghazi-e-Millat for five years.”

He noted that during this period of time, numerous development and public welfare initiatives were undertaken, including the launch of the Jagran Hydel Power Project, which continues to generate billions of rupees in revenue for the state.

The president further highlighted other major projects initiated during that period, such as the establishment of Cadet College Palandri, Sui gas supply to Mirpur, construction of Goyain Nulla Road in Rawalakot, Rehman Bridge and Bypass in Kotli, and the Women’s College in Bagh, among other educational institutions.

Reaffirming his commitment, President Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry vowed to continue raising the Kashmir issue on global platforms and exposing India’s ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq also paid eulogizing tributes to Ghazi e Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan on his death anniversary.

In his special statement, the AJK premier highlighted the deceased leader’s peerless contribution and selfless service to the people of Kashmir. He said Ghazi-e-Millat played a key role in the freedom movement that culminated in the shape of Azad Kashmir.

He said that freeing the motherland from the clutches of the despotic Dogra Maharaja and making it part of the state of Pakistan in line with the will and wishes of the Kashmiri Muslims was the life-long mission of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan.

“Despite the passage of several decades, the people of Kashmir are steadfastly pursuing the mission envisioned by the Ghazi e Milat”, he added.

Reaffirming his commitment to uphold the mission of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, the PM said that Kashmiri people would continue their struggle until the dream of freedom of Kashmir is materialised and the mission of completing Pakistan is fulfilled.

Highlighting Ghazi Millat’s life-long struggle, he said that Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan served the people of Kashmir in various capacities, with integrity and honesty.

The PM said that Ghazi e Milat offered his residence at Abiguzar in Srinagar and hosted the crucial meeting where a historic resolution known as Accession to Pakistan was unanimously passed nearly a month before the creation of Pakistan.

He said that it was during this historic meeting that the Kashmiri representatives decided to align the political future of Kashmir with the yet-to-be born state of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said that Ghazi Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan was amongst the towering leaders of Kashmir who played a significant role during the freedom movement and after the establishment of a revolutionary government in Azad Kashmir.
