President gives assents to Armed Forces Amendment Bills

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Armed Forces Amendment Bills on Saturday.

These bills include the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Pakistan Air Force (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, these Armed Forces Amendment Bills have become part of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan after the approval of the President.

Through these bills, reforms, and necessary amendments have been made in various legal provisions related to the armed forces.

Earlier, the National Assembly on Thursday approved the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Act 2025 following the ratification of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Under the newly approved legislation, a fresh notification will be issued for the appointment of the Army Chief as the Chief of Defense Forces, a new designation aimed at integrating and restructuring all Pakistan armed forces under a unified command.

After his new appointment as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir’s tenure will restart, and it will be five years from the date of his appointment.

According to the proposed Army Act, the Prime Minister will appoint the Commander National Strategic Command on the recommendation of the Army Chief and the Chief of Defense.

The proposed Army Act states that the term of the Commander National Strategic Command will be 3 years, and the Commander National Strategic Command can be reappointed for three years.
