President confers Nishan Pakistan on Jordan's King Abdullah II

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the highest civilian award, Nishan Pakistan, on King Abdullah II of Jordan.

A ceremony to confer the highest civilian award on King Abdullah II of Jordan was held at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Members of the federal cabinet and ambassadors were also present on the occasion.

The President conferred the highest civilian award, Nishan Pakistan, on King Abdullah II.

The award was given to King Abdullah II in recognition of his services to strengthening bilateral relations and regional and global peace.

King Abdullah II conferred the Jordanian award on the President, which is given to heads of state and dignitaries.

The award given to the President is a sign of Jordan’s deep respect, admiration, and friendship with Pakistan.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and King Abdullah of Jordan held a one-on-one meeting at the Prime Minister’s House.

During the meeting, the two leaders emphasized the need to further deepen bilateral relations and explore opportunities for cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, health, science and technology, education, as well as defense sectors.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to enhance strategic and economic relations between Pakistan and Jordan and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in regional and international forums.

King Abdullah II appreciated Pakistan’s continued support for Jordan’s role in the Gaza conflict as well as in post-war stabilization and humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

Regional security, peace initiatives were also discussed in detail in the meeting.

On the issue of Palestine, the two leaders acknowledged Pakistan and Jordan’s principled position on Gaza after the war, including their refusal to make any compromises on any Palestinian displacement from Gaza.

The two leaders agreed to further enhance contacts between the eight Arab and Islamic countries, which are working with the US on the Gaza ceasefire, in line with the Gaza peace agreement signed in Sharm el-Sheikh.

King Abdullah thanked the Pakistani people and government for their warm hospitality during his visit to Pakistan.

MoU’s Signed

A ceremony to exchange MoUs was also held between the two countries to enhance cooperation in various fields.

Memorandums of understanding were exchanged in the fields of media, culture, and education. The Prime Minister also hosted a dinner in honor of King Abdullah and his accompanying delegation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mosaddeq Malik, and senior government officials were also present at the meeting.
