President AJK slams India for targeting civilian populations on LoC

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has strongly condemned India for deliberately targeting civilian populations on the Line of Control.

He said several civilians were martyred and injured while over 300 houses destroyed due to Indian firing and shelling across the Line of Control.

“The frequent shelling and bombing from across LoC has left 1155 families internally displaced,” he added.

Indian shelling caused heavy losses

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry directed the government and other relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive survey to assess the damage caused by Indian shelling and ensure aid to the victims and better medical treatment facilities to the injured.

The President also expressed his condolences to the families who lost their near and dear ones in the Indian firing and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Meanwhile, acting Vice Chancellor University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari called on President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry.

During the meeting, the duo discussed issues of mutual interest with particular focus on issues related to improving the quality of education.

The president also received a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing development projects, educational activities and problems faced by the University.

Speaking on the occasion, the president directed the acting vice chancellor to utilize all the energies to improve the quality of education in the university.

He also assured Prof. Bukhari of his all-possible cooperation for the improvement of the quality of education.
