LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab Public Service Commission has announced a major reform by introducing the new PPSC merit policy, in which academic mark weightage will no longer be included in the recruitment process to ensure fairness and complete transparency.

Chairman PPSC Lt-Gen (retd) Muhammad Abdul Aziz said that the merit will now be determined solely through the result of the PPSC examination and interview, thus giving more importance to written test results.

The Commission has also decided to do away with the additional marks that were accorded to research work and non-clinical experience.

Officials have declared that from January 1, 2026, these proposals will be implemented to ensure complete uniformity in the assessment of candidates.

This decision came into being during a Full Commission meeting, based on recommendations from the Reform Committee headed by its Chair, Retired Inspector General and Commission Member Arif Nawaz Khan.

According to PPSC Secretary Afzal Ahmad, the reforms were introduced after a detailed study of international public service commissions with the intent of making the system compatible with the international standards.

Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Abdul Aziz said the Commission pledges to maintain complete transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity for every candidate under this new merit framework of PPSC.
