MUZAFFARABAD: Today, February 9, 2025, a significant decrease in the prices of broiler chicken has been recorded, which has given some relief to the citizens.

The price of live broiler chicken has fallen from Rs 435 per kg yesterday to Rs 425 per kg today, while the price of broiler chicken meat has dropped from Rs 710 per kg to Rs 690 per kg.

This reduction in prices is a welcoming move for consumers who have been facing high prices for some time. In contrast, the prices of breeder chicken have remained stable, at Rs 350 per kg live and Rs 450 per kg meat.

The prices of other sorts of chicken, such as that of desi pure and golden chicken remained stable with desi pure chicken selling at Rs 1050 per kg and golden chicken at Rs 850 per kg.

Herein the prices of eggs have changed very little. Eggs weighing 40-50 grams are selling for Rs 225 per dozen, while those weighing 51-65 grams go for Rs 245 per dozen, a tad extra compared to Rs 240 per dozen yesterday.

In some cases, eggs even go for Rs 250 per dozen. Consumers are hence being advised to buy according to the rate list to avoid any discrepancies.

Meanwhile, the fall in the prices of broiler birds could be a good development for consumers, and it will be interesting to see where this trend leads in the upcoming days.
