POONCH (Kashmir English): Acting on the special directives from SSP Poonch Muhammad Riaz Mughal, the Poonch Police intensified their crackdown on drug traffickers and achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
Drug money recovered
In a successful operation within the jurisdiction of Khai Gala Police Station, law enforcement officials apprehended a drug dealer in possession of more than to kilograms of charas (cannabis resin) and drug money amounting to Rs. 42,000.
According to police sources, the suspect — identified as Muhammad Javed son of Muhammad Azeem, and a resident of Dreek — was arrested on the spot following a tip-off.
A formal case has been registered against him, and investigations are currently underway.
Police officials stated that the accused had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time and was allegedly responsible for introducing local youth to addictive substances.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior police officers and is part of a broader campaign aimed at eliminating drugs from the region.
Commenting on the successful operation, SSP Muhammad Riaz Mughal said those who seek to destroy the younger generation deserve no leniency.
He further emphasized the police department’s commitment to eradicating drugs from Poonch and assured that all available resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.
The police have urged the public to cooperate in this national effort and report any suspicious activity to their nearest police stations without a delay.
