BHAKKAR (Kashmir English): Two police personnel were martyred in a suicide attack at the Dajal checkpost in Punjab’s Bhakkar district, located on the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, on Tuesday.

According to the security sources, a suicide bomber exploded at the entrance of the inter-provincial checkpost.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bhakkar said that two police constables, Muhammad Shahbaz and Muhammad Faheem, were martyred, while three civilians were injured, including two polio workers, Ajab Ali and Zubair, and a driver, Mohammed Husnain.

The injured have been shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospitalital Bhakkar, a police official said.

As per sources, the suicide bomber, named Hayat Ullah, has been identified as an Afghan National.

He traveled to JCP from DI Khan and was trying to enter Punjab, but upon detection blew himself up, martyring two policemen while injuring four, including one cop, security sources said.

Following the blast, Punjab and KP Police immediately launched a joint search and clearance operation.

During the operation, three accomplices of the suicide bomber, belonging to Fitna Al Khawarij, were killed, while seven facilitators were arrested.

Sources said that the operation against terrorists is still ongoing.
