ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad police have taken into custody the main suspect in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf, according to reports on Tuesday.

Police sources said the suspect, a resident of Punjab, has admitted to carrying out the killing. Officers also recovered the murder weapon along with Sana Yousaf’s iPhone from him.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the quick response by the police. In a post shared on X, he said: “Well done Islamabad Police. Sana Yousaf murder case traced, accused arrested, and weapon recovered within 20 hours.”

The incident took place a day earlier in Islamabad when Sana Yousaf was shot and killed by a masked man, sparking widespread outrage across social media platforms.

The murder happened in the area covered by the Sumbal Police Station. Early reports revealed that Sana, who belonged to Chitral, was gunned down outside her home by a man. According to police, the suspect briefly spoke with her before pulling out a gun and firing.

Sana was hit by two bullets and died on the spot. The attacker fled the scene, and her body was later taken to PIMS Hospital for a postmortem. After the necessary legal procedures, her remains were handed over to her family.

Sana Yousaf had gained popularity on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where she amassed a significant following, with nearly 800,000 followers on TikTok and around 500,000 on Instagram.

The shocking Sana Yousaf murder case has drawn comparisons with other recent incidents involving social media personalities.

In January, a man in Quetta admitted to killing his 15-year-old daughter after returning from the United States, reportedly due to his objections to her TikTok videos.

In the same month, two male TikTok users lost their lives in separate incidents in Lahore when their guns went off by mistake.
