PMDC announces domicile-based MDCAT 2025 entry exam

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has made up its mind that the MDCAT entry test 2025 for admission in medical and dental colleges will now be held based on the domicile of the candidate.

Reports added that the students will have to appear in the test in their own provinces and shall not be allowed to attempt the test in any other province.

The announcement also stipulated the approval of certain universities throughout the nation to carry out the medical and dental admissions entrance tests.

They include Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences Quetta, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad, and IBA Sukkur.

For Sindh and Balochistan candidates, a single test center shall be set up in Islamabad to accommodate their tests.

While candidates with domicile from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab will appear in the test at centers within their respective provinces.

The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University centers will also provide space for candidates from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the four provinces, for which seats will be divided on the basis of their respective quotas.

Initially scheduled for October 5, 2025, the MDCAT 2025 will now be conducted on October 26 (Sunday), the council revealed.

Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal stated that the step is taken to fulfill the best interests of students, reaffirming the government’s resolve to provide equal educational opportunities to everyone in the country.

PMDC reiterated that holding a domicile of the respective province is a requirement for admission to medical and dental colleges.

Special seats have also been reserved for the people of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan’s medical and dental colleges as well.

MDCAT 2025 Schedule

Earlier, PMDC had modified the date of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 amid the flooding scenario in the nation.

The move was made in consideration of the difficulties of students in the flooded regions of Punjab and Sindh.

PMDC stated that a new date for the exam was decided after discussion with university representatives from the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
