ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed Pakistan’s commitment to take the bilateral trade with Kyrgyzstan to two hundred million dollars in the next two years.
While speaking at an event of the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, he said Pakistan has received a high-level delegation from Kyrgyzstan led by its President, after a gap of 20 years.
The Prime Minister also urged Kyrgyz businessmen to identify areas of cooperation to enhance bilateral trade and investment in sectors like education, textiles, agriculture, and health.
He said about 8500 Pakistani students are getting an education in the medical universities of Kyrgyzstan. He said both countries have agreed on a joint mechanism to certify that these doctors work in Kyrgyzstan and in Pakistan.
To promote cultural relations, Shehbaz Sharif said both countries have also decided to hold cultural events in Bishkek and Islamabad, and other provincial centers of Pakistan.
He said Pakistan supports the CASA-1000 project and appreciates Kyrgyzstan’s achievement in completing its part of CASA, while Pakistan’s part of the project will be completed very soon.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transform historical goodwill and friendship between the countries into strong economic bonds.
Addressing the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said there are excellent conditions to fully realize the potential of trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
He said Kyrgyzstan is located in the heart of Eurasia, and its location offers tremendous opportunities. He said, by effectively utilizing the transit and all the logistical advancements, both countries can gain access to millions of people in the global market.
He said Kyrgyzstan fully supports the implementation of the goals set by Pakistan under the URAAN Pakistan development program. Sadyr Zhaparov said Kyrgyzstan is ready to cooperate with Pakistani entrepreneurs in the field of virtual assets.
