ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated Pakistan’s largest AI-ready data center campus, Sky47 (Karakoram-01), marking a significant step in the country’s digital and AI infrastructure.
Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister Khawaja Asif, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Atta Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Jam Kamal Khan were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, PM Shehbaz described the facility as remarkable and truly inspiring, saying it was built in record time and reflects Pakistan’s technological potential.
The Prime Minister said challenges would not hamper Pakistan’s progress and praised the support of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in advancing the country’s development.
Earlier today, Sky47 Limited, a majority-owned subsidiary of Mari Energies Limited, officially announced the launch of Karakoram-01, Pakistan’s first and largest purpose-built Cloud and AI data centre campus.
In a disclosure to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Mari Energies said the “Prime Minister of Pakistan inaugurated Karakoram-01 at a ceremony held in Islamabad.”
“Sky47 brings together enterprise-grade data center infrastructure, sovereign cloud services, high-performance AI computing, cybersecurity and managed technology services within a single ecosystem,” the company wrote.
Designed for AI-ready and mission-critical workloads, Karakoram-01 will enable government, financial, telecommunications, healthcare, and technology enterprises to host and operate critical systems within Pakistan with greater control over their data.
