LACHIN (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, after completing a three-day official visit to Azerbaijan.
At Lachin International Airport, he was seen off by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, and other diplomatic staff.
In Dushanbe, the prime minister is scheduled to attend the International Conference on Glacier Prevention.
Before leaving for Tajikistan, the prime minister spoke to the media at the airport. He shared that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, had once again expressed his country’s commitment to invest two billion dollars in Pakistan. He said Pakistan is fully prepared to welcome this investment, which will bring benefits to both sides.
The prime minister described Azerbaijan as a “brotherly country” and said the two nations are set to expand cooperation in various fields, including trade, defence, education, and healthcare.
During his stay in Azerbaijan, the prime minister met with President Ilham Aliyev for a bilateral discussion, took part in the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, and joined the celebrations for Azerbaijan’s Independence Day.
In Dushanbe, the prime minister is expected to attend an international conference focused on glacier preservation.
