ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In view of the flood situation in the country, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has taken a major step for public relief by stopping the collection of electricity bills in flood-hit areas.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister regarding electricity bills in the affected areas, which was attended by relevant officials.

The Prime Minister immediately stopped electricity distribution companies from collecting electricity bills for August 2025 from consumers in flood-affected areas.

The Prime Minister said that a detailed package regarding electricity bills for the affected areas will be finally announced after the matters are settled with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He directed that the flood-affected consumers whose electricity bills for August 2025 have been collected will be adjusted next month.

He said that the floods have affected millions of people across Pakistan, and every effort is being made to alleviate the suffering of the people in this difficult time.

He added that federal and provincial agencies are making every effort for the rescue and rehabilitation of the victims, and we will not rest until the flood victims return to their homes.

NEPRA Reduces Electricity Prices in Pakistan

Earlier, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday announced a reduction in electricity prices.

According to a notification issued by Nepra, the electricity price for DISCOs consumers has been reduced by Rs 1.79 per unit.

The reduction in electricity rates was made in the monthly fuel cost adjustment for July.

According to the decision, this reduction will apply to all DISCOs and K-Electric consumers, but will not apply to Lifeline, prepaid consumers, and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

As per the notification, electricity consumers will get relief on September bills.
