MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Nominated Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, promised a new era of progress and prosperity in the region, adding that the vision of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is based on public service, the protection of citizens’ rights, development, and progress.

Earlier today, PML-N spokesperson and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that her party has nominated Barrister Iftikhar for the post of 17th Prime Minister of AJK, which is scheduled to be elected on August 28.

In a statement, Aurangzeb stated that party president Nawaz Sharif has directed Gilani to submit nomination papers for election to the office of PM.

In a video statement issued after his nomination, Gilani said that wherever PML-N had formed governments, it had focused on development, progress, and the protection of public rights.

“The development vision being pursued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the federal level and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Punjab would also be implemented in Azad Kashmir,” PM nominee said.

He said that projects would be launched in Azad Kashmir along the lines of the ongoing development programs of the federal government and Punjab to provide relief and facilities to the people in the true sense.

“During the tenure of PML-N, a new era of development and prosperity will begin in AJK, focusing on welfare and a better future for the people,” he concluded.
