MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, emphasized the need for administrative and curricular reforms in higher educational institutions to maintain identity in the world.
He made these remarks while addressing the meeting held to discuss higher education in Azad Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Minister for Higher Education Zafar Iqbal Malik, and Secretary Higher Education Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab.
In the meeting, Minister for Higher Education gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on the resources of the Higher Education Department, the needs of the department according to the modern requirements, the problems faced, innovation, steps taken to achieve modern education and future strategy, among other issues.
Speaking on the occasion, the premier stressed the importance of developing the young generation on modern lines and making institutions real knowledge centers.
PM Anwarul Haq said that resources must be spent for the best future of the new generation, by bringing reforms in institutions, loss-making institutions should be made profitable to put education on the path of development.
He further added that the government has improved education performance through merit and biometrics, and activated the Public Service Commission (PSC) through the National Testing Service (NTS), due to which merit has been given priority, and the common man also got opportunities to get a job on equal terms.
The Prime Minister directed the institutions to be active and continuously serve the people, making improved performance a mission. The government aims to take steps to eliminate unemployment and train the new generation for future challenges, he stated.
