ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will restart its flights to London after a six-year break. The initial flight will arrive at its destination on March 29, which represents a significant achievement for the restoration of UK flight services.
PIA had already resumed UK routes with Manchester flights in 2025, after the ban was lifted. The UK, EU, and US governments imposed bans on the country because of the 2020 Karachi plane crash and the resulting pilot licensing issues from that incident.
PIA currently intends to increase its flight operations throughout the UK because of its new ownership and organizational changes, which include multiple weekly flights to London and Manchester.
The process of expansion will only proceed after the company achieves financial stability, yet the organization has established a clear objective that involves restoring PIA operations while rebuilding global confidence.
Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced a 10% fare discount for passengers flying from Paris to Pakistan. A PIA spokesperson said passengers can book tickets under the offer until February 10, 2026.
The discounted fares apply to travel during two windows: February 1 to March 10 and May 1 to May 15, 2026. PIA said the move aims to make travel easier and provide better value on this popular route.
Officials briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Privatization said PIA plans to resume and expand international flights. The airline may also restore direct services to the United States later this year, after improving operations to the UK and Europe.
The government expects to earn around Rs. 55 billion from PIA’s privatization. The government maintains ownership of important international assets. The airline has completed its debt obligations to the national treasury, according to officials.
