ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a big breakthrough, the passport application backlog has been cleared to zero in Pakistan and globally, officials announced on Thursday.
It was stated that Bangladesh High Commissioner in Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain, called on the Passport Headquarters, where he inspected different sections and witnessed the process of making passports.
Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, apprised the High Commissioner about the state-of-the-art facilities being employed in passport production.
He emphasized improved lamination processes, security features, and ease of online services provided for overseas Pakistanis.
The DG Passports also announced that the department has, with great success, reduced the backlog of passports globally to zero, a first for the authority.
The Bangladeshi envoy commended the technological interventions and administrative reforms, specifically those directed at easing the overseas citizens. He was also very interested in the application of artificial intelligence in the passport manufacturing system.
Praising the achievement, the High Commissioner declared that clearing the backlog within such a limited time is a remarkable feat that demonstrates Pakistan’s embracing of modern administration and IT solutions.
