ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English):Pakistanis could get three consecutive days off in November as Allama Iqbal Day falls on Monday, November 9.

With Saturday and Sunday falling on November 7 and 8, the public holiday could give people a long weekend without taking an extra day off from work.

The break may be a chance for families to travel, visit relatives or simply spend time at home. However, the holiday schedule for schools, colleges and universities will depend on official announcements from the relevant authorities.

For now, people should wait for the government’s official notification to confirm the holiday arrangements.

Why Is Iqbal Day Observed on November 9?

Allama Muhammad Iqbal, widely known as the Poet of the East and Pakistan’s national poet, was born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot. He was a renowned poet, philosopher and political thinker whose ideas played an important role in shaping the intellectual foundations of the Pakistan Movement.

Iqbal Day is observed annually to honour his literary contributions, philosophical thought and lasting influence on Pakistan’s national identity. Seminars, poetry recitals, educational programmes and discussions are commonly held to highlight his work and ideas.

With November 9 falling on a Monday in 2026, people who normally have Saturdays and Sundays off could benefit from a three-day weekend. However, students and employees should wait for official notifications to confirm the applicable holiday arrangements.
