LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani has stated that international hockey activities in the country are on the rise, and several international hockey events are scheduled to be held in Pakistan over the next six months.
Wani revealed that following a tour of Korea, the Chinese hockey team will visit Pakistan in November.
He noted that the Chinese team is set to arrive next month, and the Canadian team will also visit Pakistan after China’s tour.
According to the PHF President, three European teams are also ready to visit Pakistan, a development that will boost international hockey activities in the country.
Wani announced that Pakistan is set to host an international hockey tournament featuring ten nations next December. He added that there are also plans to organize a hockey league in Pakistan next year.
Regarding the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, Wani stated that the authority to move the tournament from India to a neutral venue rests with the Asian Hockey Federation.
He mentioned that the Pakistan Hockey Federation has formally requested the Asian Hockey Federation to relocate the tournament away from India; however, the Asian Hockey Federation has not yet provided a definitive “yes” or “no” response.
Wani emphasized that while they are aware of the relevant rules and regulations governing such matters, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has clearly articulated its stance. For Pakistan, the country’s honor and dignity remain the top priority.
