KARACHI (Kashmir English): Pakistan Women’s Team Captain Fatima Sana has broken the world record in women’s T20 Internationals (T20Is) for the fastest-ever half-century, scoring the fifty runs in 15 balls.

Sana achieved this milestone against Zimbabwe in the first inning of the third match of a three-match T20I series at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, on Friday.

During her 19-ball unbeaten stay, the skipper scored 62 runs with 10 fours and 2 sixes.

She broke the record previously held by three players, Sophie Devine, Phoebe Litchfield, and Richa Ghosh, who had scored their fifties off 18 balls.

India’s Richa Ghosh scored a fifty against the West Indies in 2024, while Sophie Devine scored against India in 2015, and Phoebe Litchfield against the West Indies in 2023.

For Pakistan, Nida Dar held the record for the fastest fifty with 20 balls against South Africa in 2019. Her 20-ball effort is now the third fastest half-century.

Courtesy of Sana’s blitz, Pakistan scored 223/4, after having been 93/3 at the 10.2 over. Playing her third T20I, Saira Jabeen also scored her first-ever T20I half-century off 32 balls.

Later, Pakistan crushed Zimbabwe by 133 runs to complete a clean sweep of the three-match T20I series.
