ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan is set to face India in the Asian Games Cricket Gold Medal match scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 03, 2026.
Fans are eagerly waiting as the two most popular rival teams are going to face each other. The Pakistan team has earned the spot in the final earlier in the day after defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-reduced semifinal.
Chasing 112 from 13 overs, Pakistan recovered from 53 for four before Abdul Samad’s unbeaten 30 off 15 balls and Hasan Nawaz’s 27 not out guided them to the target in 11.3 overs.
The first-ever Asian Games final between the nations will take place on Saturday, October 3, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
India are defending the gold medal they won at the 2022 Asian Games while Pakistan are looking to win their first-ever men’s cricket gold at the Games.
Pakistan had won Asian Games gold medals in women’s cricket before, but the men’s team has not yet won a gold medal in the tournament. Rain might add another twist to the final.
Unlike in the 2022 edition when India were crowned gold medal winners after their final against Afghanistan was washed out as they were a higher-ranked team, according to the rules of 2026, both teams will share the gold medal in case of an abandoned final match. There‘s no reserve day for the gold medal match.
