ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the challenges facing Pakistan can be met only through national unity, strong state discipline, and the power of knowledge and thought.

While addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference, which was held in Islamabad on December 10, 2025, scholars and Mashaikhs of all schools of thought from across the country participated in full force.

On Sunday, December 21, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army once again released the contents of this address of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to the media.

According to the ISPR, in his address, the Field Marshal shed detailed light on terrorism, national security, the overall situation in the region, Pakistan’s emerging role in the international community, and defense preparations.

He made it clear that Pakistan, as a responsible state, desires peace, but no compromise will be made on its security. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, citing verses and poems of the Holy Quran, highlighted the ideological identity of Pakistan and said that Allah Almighty has bestowed upon Pakistan the honor of being the guardians of the two holy mosques among the Islamic countries, and this honor is a trust from Allah.

He said that there is a deep connection and clear similarity between the State of the Holy Prophet and the State of Pakistan. According to the Field Marshal, the establishment of both states took place in the blessed month of Ramadan based on the Kalima Tayyaba. He said that this similarity is because the Lord of the Universe made one the guardian of the two holy mosques and us the guardians of the two holy mosques.

Referring to Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said that during this operation, Allah’s help was seen and felt. According to him, success is achieved through a combination of discipline, faith, and correct leadership.

He bluntly said that in any Islamic state, no individual or group other than the state can issue a jihad order or fatwa. According to him, non-state violence is against the teachings of Islam and harms the Ummah.

Talking about the situation in Afghanistan, the Field Marshal said that innocent citizens and children of Pakistan are being targeted through terrorism with the support of the Afghan Taliban. He revealed that seventy percent of the formations of Fitna al-Khawarij that come from Afghanistan include Afghans.

He said that Afghanistan will have to choose between Fitna al-Khawarij and Pakistan. According to him, Pakistan wants peace, cooperation, and mutual respect; however, its stance against terrorism is unwavering.

At the end of his speech, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir emphasized the importance of knowledge and said that nations that abandoned the intellectual and intellectual heritage of their ancestors and the power of the pen have become victims of poverty. He urged the scholars to play their historic role in promoting awareness, unity, and moderation in society.
