HONG KONG (Kashmir English): Pakistan has made history once again by winning the Hong Kong Sixes title for the sixth time by defeating Kuwait by 43 runs in the final here on Sunday.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a strong total of 135 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Abbas Afridi played a brilliant knock, scoring 52 runs, while Abdul Samad added a valuable 42 runs, helping Pakistan set a competitive target.

Abdul Samad scored a quick 42 off 13, while Khawaja Nafay added 22 off six deliveries. Pakistan lost three wickets, but kept the run rate at a high of 22.5 runs per over.

Meet Bhavsar from Kuwait was the most successful bowler, taking all three wickets for 29 runs in two overs.

Kuwait buckles under pressure

Chasing 136 to win, Kuwait began aggressively but gradually lost steam. Opener Adnan Idrees smashed 30 runs off 8 balls, with Bhavsar adding 33 off 12.

However, Pakistan’s bowlers managed to regain control in the middle part of the innings as Kuwait was sent packing for 92 runs in 5.1 overs.

Maaz Sadaqat was Pakistan’s bowling hero, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs. Muhammad Shahzad, Abdul Samad, and Abbas Afridi claimed one wicket each to seal a comfortable victory

This victory now gives Pakistan a sixth Hong Kong Sixes championship, reinforcing the fact that they have dominated throughout the history of the tournament.

The last time such a title had been won was back in 2011, meaning this triumph is a comeback after a long wait.

The fans celebrated the team’s aggressive batting and sharp bowling display, while Abbas Afridi’s captaincy was especially praised for his fearless approach as a leader and a power-hitter.

With this victory, Pakistan secured their sixth Hong Kong Sixes title, reaffirming their dominance in the fast-paced short-format tournament.
