Pakistan, China sign 21 MoUs worth $4.2bn investment

BEIJING (Kashmir English): Pakistan and China have signed 21 MoUs for cooperation in various sectors and investment worth $4.2 billion.

MoUs and joint ventures were signed on the sidelines of the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, other federal ministers, and a large number of representatives of Pakistani and Chinese companies were also present on the occasion.

Joint ventures worth $1.54 billion related to high-tech, agriculture, and medical MoUs were signed.

MoUs and joint ventures were signed in chemical and petrochemical, iron steel and copper, solar energy, and electric vehicles.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that today we are going to launch CPEC 2.0, this CPEC 2.0 consists of B2B investment.

The agriculture sector is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. Chinese investors should invest their experiences, investments in Pakistan’s agriculture sector, and promote agriculture.

The Prime Minister said that China can transfer industries in textile, leather, and other sectors to Pakistan, and China can benefit from Pakistan’s workforce.

He added that I urge Chinese investors to move forward and take advantage of these opportunities. Alhamdulillah, Pakistan’s economy is now stable, and economic indicators are indicating positive progress in the future.

There will be economic growth in the short, medium, and long term; all this has been possible thanks to the Chinese President’s commitment to cooperation with Pakistan, he noted.

The Prime Minister further said that China is a sincere, true friend of Pakistan, which has stood by Pakistan in every difficult time, be it an earthquake or a flood, China has stood by Pakistan in every difficulty.

He further added that the security of Chinese brothers and sisters in Pakistan is our top priority.
