DHAKA (Kashmir English): Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to enhance bilateral relations, economic and trade cooperation.
According to the Foreign Office, delegation-level talks between Pakistan and Bangladesh were held in Dhaka, during which bilateral relations, economic and trade cooperation, and regional issues were discussed in detail.
Several agreements and MoUs were signed during the ministerial-level talks between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The agreement also included visa-free entry for diplomatic and official passport holders.
The agreement includes cooperation in Foreign Services Academies, a cooperation agreement between ISSI and the Bangladesh Strategic Studies Institute.
An agreement to establish a joint working group for trade promotion between the two countries was also signed.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Haider, and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Muhand Iqbal Hussain Khan were also present in the meeting.
It may be recalled that Ishaq Dar arrived in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, on Saturday, the most important official visit by a Pakistani foreign minister in recent years.
His visit comes after increasing contacts between Pakistan and Bangladesh in recent months.
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal was in Dhaka this week, where he held talks on trade and agricultural cooperation, while Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch held bilateral consultations with Bangladesh for the first time in 15 years in April.
