NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Pakistan assumed the 2-year chairmanship of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on Tuesday.
Pakistan will assume the chairmanship of the ECO for 2026 and 2027. Pakistan thanked Kazakhstan for its leadership of the ECO in 2025 and its effective leadership and active role in ECO affairs.
According to Pakistani Ambassador Mudassar Tipu, Pakistan, as a founding member, has declared ECO as its soul and identity.

He added that “I underscored that Pakistan, as one of the founding members of ECO, has been its soul and spirit and will deeply solidify ECO as its Chair. ECO Member States warmly welcomed Pakistan as the new Chair adding that- with its strong credentials- Islamabad will infuse renewed dynamism and vitality in ECO.”
According to Pakistani Ambassador Mudassar Tipu, member countries say that Pakistan’s leadership will bring new energy and activity to ECO.
