RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Pakistan has won the tri-nation series opener match against Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in a match played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In the match between Pak vs Zim, the Green shirts achieved the target in last over.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and invited Zimbabwe to bat.

Zimbabwe started well against Pakistan and the openers put on a brilliant partnership of 72 runs, but then Marumani was dismissed for 30 runs.

Zimbabwe suffered their second loss in the form of Brendan Taylor, who was run out for 14 runs. After this, set-batsman Brian Bennett was dismissed for 49.

In addition, Ryan Burrell scored 8 runs, captain Sikandar Raza scored 34 runs. Zimbabwe scored 147 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted overs.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz took 2 wickets, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Salman Mirza and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket each.

Pakistan achieved Zimbabwe’s target of 148 runs with 4 balls to spare for the loss of 5 wickets. Fakhar Zaman was outstanding with 44 runs.

Saim Ayub scored 22 runs and Sahibzada Farhan scored 16 runs. Babar was out on zero, and captain Salman Ali Agha was dismissed for one run.

Usman Khan remained not out with 37 runs and Mohammad Nawaz scored 20 runs and led the Pakistan team to victory.

For Zimbabwe, Say  Evans took 2 wickets.
