DHAKA (Kashmir English): Bangladesh handed over a crushing 8-wicket defeat to Pakistan in the first match of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Batting first, Green Shirts made a modest 115-run target, which the hosts comfortably chased in 15.1 overs, losing just two wickets.
Speaking after the toss, Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi said that if Pakistan had won the toss, it would have decided to bat first on this track. He said that considering this wicket, a score between 270 and 280 runs could prove to be a suitable total for the competition.
Four players, Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Abdul Samad, and Shamyl Hussain, are making their ODI debuts for the Pakistan cricket team in this match, Afridi said. The debut of four players simultaneously in the Pakistan team is being described as a major development.
This is the first time since 2008 that the Pakistan cricket team has given such a large number of players their ODI debut in a single match.
