NORTH WAZIRISTAN (Kashmir English): Officials have confirmed that Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali of North Waziristan was killed in an ambush opened by Taliban militants on his vehicle on Miranshah Road in Bannu district.
According to details, on December 2, 2025, Fitna-ul-Khawarij attacked Assistant Commissioner Miran Shah, North Waziristan Shah Wali on Miran Shah-Bannu Road in the Mamsh Khel area of Bannu, as a result of which three government officials, including the Assistant Commissioner and a passerby, were martyred.
The cruel Khawarij burned the Assistant Commissioner inside the vehicle, which is against Islamic and tribal traditions.
According to RPO Bannu Sajjad Ahmed, the Khawarij also set fire to the martyred Assistant Commissioner’s vehicle and fled after the attack. A passerby also lost his life in this tragic incident.
The martyred Assistant Commissioner had ancestral ties to South Waziristan.
It should be noted that the Khawarij have been continuously claiming that their enmity is only with the security forces, not with the people.
However, today’s cowardly attack exposes their lie that, in reality, this group is an enemy of the people, and in its operations, they also target the lives and property of ordinary citizens.
This tragic incident has also highlighted the failure of the provincial government.
Sources said that the attackers snatched weapons from the security personnel during the incident and moved away, further escalating the concern over militant activities in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the attack targeted the government convoy, adding that police and security forces immediately reached the scene. The area has been cordoned off, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The attack has been highly condemned by authorities, who point out that Taliban groups continue to pose a real menace in the area.
Security arrangements are being increased in Bannu and other sensitive districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to avoid such incidents and protect government functionaries and police personnel.
On October 10, 2025, the DG ISPR, while holding a press conference in Peshawar, had said that the number of CTD personnel in the province is only 3,300, which is very inadequate for such a large and sensitive province.
The 13-year continuous government of the PTI could not take any effective steps to increase the capacity of the CTD, which resulted in the police and counter-terrorism agencies failing to cope with the growing security challenges.
On the other hand, the repeated statements of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government that the army should be limited to border areas only — this question becomes more important: what practical steps were taken to increase the capacity of the police in urban areas?
Moreover, the wrong policies of the provincial government further worsened the situation. Especially the decisions and agreements made with terrorist elements, which not only encouraged them but also severely affected the law and order situation in the province.
These policies are a clear indication of a complete failure to protect the public and allow terrorists to operate more freely, resulting in heartbreaking incidents like today.
