LAHORE (Kashmir English): Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that summer vacation announcement for schools in Punjab is yet to be made by Punjab Education Department.
According to the minister’s statement, there are three to four proposals for summer vacations, but the final announcement will be made in the coming days.
Rana Sikandar Hayat also mentioned that Punjab government is considering all the options carefully before making an announcement on the summer vacation schedule.
On the other hand, it should be noted that back in April, Rana Sikandar Hayat gave some details about the summer vacation plan of 2026, which brought all the rumors on this topic to an end.
In his statement, the education minister explained that the decision about summer vacation would be made after May and the government was planning to reduce summer vacations by 15-20 days for compensating academic losses.
Furthermore, the education minister said that in order to complete the syllabus in time, the government plans to increase the teaching days in an academic year from 180 to 190.
“The government wants to increase the number of teaching days in the academic year from 180 to 190 days to ensure timely completion of the syllabus, and a proposal to reduce not only the summer but also the winter holidays by 5 to 6 days is under consideration.”
