ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): With new dreams, new hopes, and new resolve, the year 2026 has begun in Pakistan and most other countries around the world, and it has been welcomed with great enthusiasm and fervor across the country.
Spectacular fireworks displays were held in various cities of Pakistan, and the sky lit up with colourful lights, while citizens welcomed the New Year with joy and excitement.
New Year celebrations were held in the federal capital Islamabad besides Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, and some other cities. The year was welcomed with great enthusiasm during light rain in the federal capital.
A spectacular fireworks display was arranged by the Punjab government in Lahore’s Liberty area and Liberty Chowk, which attracted a large number of citizens.
Celebrations were held at various locations, but some areas also experienced traffic congestion.
In Karachi, the city of Quaid, spectacular fireworks displays were also seen on the occasion of the New Year, but despite the ban, incidents of aerial firing were reported in some areas of the city.
Law and order on New Year
Section 144 has been imposed in Karachi and Hyderabad to maintain law and order.
According to the notification, pillion riding and displaying weapons are prohibited, while fireworks will be limited to specific authorized locations.
On the other hand, New Year celebrations were also held with great enthusiasm in Park View City Islamabad. A colorful fair was organized on the lakeside, where citizens enjoyed a musical concert.
At the end of the celebration, spectacular fireworks were displayed, filling the sky with colours. Participants praised the arrangements, saying that such an event is rarely seen.
Bidding farewell to 2025 and welcoming 2026, citizens expressed hope that the new year would bring messages of goodness, peace, and prosperity for the country.
