ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released a new procedure for obtaining marriage certificates from Union Councils.
It is essential for every married couple to register their marriage with the Union Council.
Required documents to complete procedure for obtaining a Nikah and Marriage Certificate through the Union Council include original Nikah Nama, copies of the bride’s and groom’s ID cards, copies of both parents’ ID cards and copies of the ID cards of the Nikah witnesses.
Marriage Certificate procedure
One of the married couple must go to the Union Council with the required documents. The staff there will verify all the papers. If the papers are correct, the staff will enter the Nikah details into their system.
After that, the applicant will be given a printed form for proofreading. If all the information is correct, the applicant will sign and submit it back.
After signature verification, the marriage certificate is issued by the Union Council.
This facility is currently available only in Chakwal, Nankana Sahib, Quetta, and Karachi East through NADRA’s Pak ID mobile app.
