ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a free biometric data update service for citizens in Pakistan and overseas.
According to NADRA, citizens can update their biometric information without paying any fee. The service includes fingerprinting, a new photograph and an iris scan.
NADRA said keeping biometric records updated can help reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud while preventing problems during biometric verification for services such as banking transactions, issuance of new mobile SIM cards and obtaining “Proof of Life” certificates.
The authority has particularly advised parents of children aged between three and 18 who do not have a photograph on their Form-B to update their biometric information.
Citizens holding National Identity Cards with lifetime validity can also benefit from the free service.
Applicants can visit their nearest NADRA office, a NADRA counter at a Union Council or a mobile registration van to update their biometric information free of charge.
