MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Muzaffarabad Traffic Police has issued a public notice announcing a strict crackdown on traffic rule violations, with significantly revised fine amounts for a wide range of offences. The move comes under a government notification (LD/Legis-Act/336 50/2025) dated May 13, 2025, aimed at improving road safety and discipline in the region.

In light of rising traffic violations, such as driving without helmets, use of unregistered vehicles, underage drivers, wrong-way driving, and overloading, this revision by the Muzaffarabad Traffic Police Department has been introduced to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws.

The circular, issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic Region Muzaffarabad, warns the public that action will be taken in the coming days against those violating traffic rules. This includes imposing fines and legal action as per the newly revised rates.

Fines also vary based on vehicle type, such as motorcycles, five-seater cars, and loader pickups. In some cases, parents or guardians of minor offenders will be called to the police station and held accountable along with the driver.

The Muzaffarabad Traffic Police emphasized that these actions are not just intended as punishment but meant to educate the public and prevent road accidents. Officials expressed concern over the increasing number of violations in the city, especially by youth and commercial drivers.

“Public cooperation is essential,” the circular reads. “Our goal is to ensure safety on the roads and make citizens more responsible behind the wheel.”

The Muzaffarabad Traffic Police Department has issued this notification to ensure citizens are aware of the new fines and to improve road safety. All drivers are urged to follow traffic rules, wear helmets, avoid underage driving, and ensure vehicle registration. Violators will face strict penalties and legal action starting immediately.
