MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Upon receiving a complaint on the helpline, the Food Authority Muzaffarabad took timely action and sealed a hotel for violating hygiene principles.
According to details, Assistant Food Safety Officer Qazi Shafiq-ur-Rehman, along with his team, conducted a surprise raid and reviewed the hygiene arrangements at the hotel.
During the inspection, evidence of dirt on the kitchen floor, grease accumulated on utensils and grates, and uncovered food items were found.
Additionally, the hotel staff was found to be completely failing in implementing food handling regulations. The hotel was sealed on the spot for violating the Food Authority’s SOPs.
District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir said that the purpose of the Food Authority is not just to conduct raids or seal hotels, but to assure the public that there will be no compromise on their health.
He said that neglecting hygiene and food handling principles is tantamount to creating a risk of diseases for citizens, and such elements do not deserve any leniency.

He appealed to the public that citizens are the eyes and ears of the Food Authority, and to immediately report any substandard food, unhygienic items, or cleanliness issues to the Food Authority’s number 1280 so that timely action could be taken.
