MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A family on Thursday claimed that Alsam Rathore, a retired SDO of the Public Works Department (PWD), has attacked and vandalized their property in Muzaffarabad’s Gulshan-e-Allauddin Colony.

Addressing a press conference at the Muzaffarabad Central Press Club, the affected family said that Aslam Rathore sold them a 10-marla plot for Rs 30 lakhs eight years ago and later filed a case against them in the court.

They said that on June 25, the court of the Senior Civil Judge ruled in our favor, and with the cooperation of the administration, we installed a shelter worth Rs 10 to 12 lakh.

“Despite a court ruling in their favor, we were attacked last night by Aslam Rathore’s sons, nephews, and nieces, along with 30-40 hired goons, who vandalized and destroyed our shelter,” the affected family said.

They said that Rathore and his accomplices used daggers, knives, shovels, and guns to torture and injure women, children, and their family members.

“A case was registered at the city police station, and an FIR has been lodged against Aslam Rathore and others after the medical examination of the injured,” they said.

During the press conference, the family claimed that Rathore sold them the plot, which was registered in their name after receiving the allotment chit and position slip from the Muzaffarabad Development Authority (MDA).

However, Aslam Rathore later claimed a 4-marla allotment against MDA, in which the family was also made a party. The victims said that they obtained a restraining order against him and filed a case in the anti-corruption department.

“Aslam Rathore could not present any evidence in the anti-corruption department, on which the DG Anti-Corruption gave him time to resolve the matter and said that if you could not resolve the matter within a week, then a case of forgery would be filed against you,” the family told reporters.

The affected family appealed to the administration to immediately arrest the accused and provide protection of life and property, as the accused are openly threatening them.
