More rain, snowfall predicted across country from January 25-27

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday forecast more rain and snowfall from January 25 (Sunday) till January 27 (Tuesday) in different parts of the country, including Azad Kashmir.

“A westerly wave is likely to approach western parts of the country on January 25 (Sunday) and likely to grip upper parts of the country on January 26,” the Met Office said in a weather forecast.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall (a few heavy snowfalls) is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ganche, Shigar), and Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli) on Jan 26-27 with occasional gaps.

“Rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall (a few heavy snowfalls) is also expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, Kurram, Khyber, Hangu, Bajur, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujrat Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan on 26th and 27th January with occasional gaps,” it added.

Moreover, Balochistan (Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibbi, Loralai, Turbat, Gawadar, Jiwani, Kech, Awaran, Chaghi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan) will get the rain, with snowfall on Jan 25 (night) and Jan 26.

It added that rain was also expected in parts of upper Sindh, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu, on January 26.
