ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad’s Metro Bus service would be totally closed on Tuesday due to an official visit of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian to the country, Metro Bus officials said in an announcement.

They said that whereas the Metro Bus service in Islamabad would be closed all day, the Metro Bus service will be in operation in Rawalpindi from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The Metro Bus would be running from Saddar Station to Faizabad, whereas from IJP Road to Pak Secretariat, the service would not be running.

President Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Pakistan on a day-long visit today. Iranian authorities said President Pezeshkian is coming to Pakistan to thank PM Shehbaz Sharif and acknowledge the steps he took towards enabling mediation talks between the US and Iran.

The Metro Bus service would not run throughout Islamabad to ensure the president’s smooth visit and would instead only run from 6 am to 7 pm in Rawalpindi to make arrangements for essential commuters.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has decorated its capital, Islamabad, in a colourful display to welcome the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, ahead of his official visit to the country.

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad announced that, in view of President Pezeshkian’s visit, all hiking trails of the Federal Capital would be closed.

Earlier, The Multan Metro Bus Service and all feeder bus routes were suspended on Monday, June 22, 2026, stated the Punjab Mass Transit Authority PMTA.

” The buses will not be running throughout the day,” it added. In a service update related to 6th Muharram-ul-Haram, the PMTA had requested the public to arrange alternate travel for themselves.
