ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan is in the grip of extremely cold weather now a days with temperatures equally plummeting in the mountainous areas as well as plains.
The Met Office on Saturday forecast that the weather would become chillier in days to come, making it hard for daily-wagers to run the households.
The Punjab government also on Saturday announced to extend the winter vacations in schools and colleges by one week keeping in view the students health as the country is already in the grip of a chilling cold wave.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced the decision which was made on the basis of a public survey conducted on the minister’s social media page. The minister said one-week extension was given keeping in view the health of students.
Prediction for an intensely cold weather had made parents of children worried who demanded an extension in vacations.

On the other hand, Met Office Deputy Director Irfan Virk has clarified that although the winter season is harsh, but still record-breaking temperatures had not been recorded anywhere in the country.
