Eight-memeber medical team dispatched to snow-struck Halmat

NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir Digital): Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Masood-ur-Rehman took the initiative, an eight-member medical team dispatched to Halmat via helicopter to provide emergency healthcare to snow-affected residents of Neelum Valley under the supervision of the Prime Minister AJK and Chief Secretary AJK.

Multiple organizations under the leadership of Commissioner Rehman join forces to lead emergency response actions in which respectively the Public Health Department, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Medical Association and Young Doctors Association are involved. The Pakistan Army helped establish this third emergency medical mission to Halmat according to General Masood-ur-Rehman.

Previously too, the Pakistan Army has arranged free medical camps to aid the locals.

The district administration must give complete assistance to medical teams throughout their operational activities according to the commissioner’s command. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir together with the Chief Secretary monitor the emergency response operations through personal oversight.

Commissioner Masood-ur-Rehman expressed appreciation to medical professionals and volunteer doctors who dedicated themselves to needy patients as he thanked them during this difficult period.

Medical staff representing a new emergency response team must reach Neelum Valley to supply healthcare services to residents who remain confined by snow. A group of eight medical personnel under Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division Masood-ur-Rehman departed Muzaffarabad Airport by helicopter to reach Halmat.

Vice Chairman of the Young Doctors Association Dr Waqar Butt and Coordinator of the Pakistan Medical Association Dr Raja Imtiaz accompanied Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Abbas Naqvi to observe this medical team’s departure. The mission received support from Colonel Tauqeer and Deputy Commissioner Mudassir Nadeem Ahmad Janjua together with the medical team.

The medical group comprises staff members Dr Bilal, Dr Fakhira, Dr Noor, Dr Hassan Bano, Dr Hadiya Ijaz, Dr Hassan Iqbal, Dr Hansa, and Dr Ehtesham. A medical camp operated by these professionals will serve individuals exposed to severe weather conditions in Halmat.

The Pakistan Medical Association along with the Young Doctors Association established previous medical camps in Halmat. The program launches its operations based on guidelines provided by the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir for providing medical help directly to snow-affected community members.
